Contemporary Abstract Mixed-Media Painting
About this painting: This is second in a series of three paintings, I have created so far in Confluence Series.
Confluence literally means a place where two water bodies (rivers, streams, tributaries, etc) meet.
For me, being born in India and having grown amidst the Eastern philosophical, cultural and sociological influences, and then moving to the US for much of my work life and experienced the western culture, has been a great positive process. This series bring back a lot of the childhood memories of patched and colorful images of fabrics, walls, festivities and cultural imageries, that over the time, like the two rivers, met with the imageries and styles that I have been exposed over the last twenty years that I have experienced the western civilization in the United States. It's the superimposition and meeting of these competing yet complementing images (for me) that I see when I let my mind think free!
I hope my audience could experience the same when they look at these works.
Title: Confluence # 2
Year: 2021
Original Medium: Acrylic, marble powder, crackle and pouring mediums, pastels and other mixed media on canvas
This is the limited edition print of the original abstract painting.
